"Platon'un Hakikat Doktrini" başlıklı incelemesinde Heidegger, Platon'un mağara alegorisinde ortaya konan hakikat doktrinini ele alarak farklı bir yorum ile söylenenler arasında söylenmemiş olana ulaşmayı amaçlamaktadır. Heidegger öncelikle mağaradan gün ışığına ve gün ışığından mağaraya geçiş sürecine ilişkin ifadeleri irdeler. Kendi ifadesiyle "insanın özünün, her seferinde, atandığı alana göre yönünü değiştirdiği ve ona uyum sağladığı bu süreç, Platon'un ??????? (eğitim) adını verdiği şeyin özüdür." Ancak Heidegger, bu noktada söylenmemiş olanı açığa çıkaracağına inandığı bir yorum ile alegorinin "yalnızca eğitimin özünü örneklemekle kalma[yıp], aynı zamanda hakikatin özündeki dönüşüm ile ilgili de gözlerimizi aç"tığını çünkü "eğitim ve hakikatin doğrudan özsel bir birliktelik oluşturduğunu" öne sürer. Heidegger'e göre mağara alegorisinin asıl anlamına başvurulduğunda "ulaşacağımız cevap hem alegorinin, hakikatin özünden bahsediyor olduğu gerçeğini hem de hakikatin özünden ne şekilde bahsettiğini gösterecektir"

In his inquiry named "Plato's Doctrine of Truth", Heidegger approches Plato's doctrine of truth that has been presented in his allegory of cave and he aims at reaching the unsaid among what has been said by using a different interpretation. Heidegger firstly examines the expressions concerning the movements of passage out of the cave into the daylight and then back out of the daylight into the cave. With his own expression "this process whereby the human essence is reoriented and accustomed to the region assigned to it at each point is the essence of what Plato calls ???????." However at this point, Heidegger asserts, with an interpretation which he believes to uncover the unsaid, that allegory "not only illustrates the essence of education but at the same time opens our eyes to a transformation in the essence of truth" because "education and truth come together into an essential unity". According to Heidegger, when we refer to the proper content of the allegory , "the answer will show both the fact that and the way in which the allegory deals with the essence of truth"
