Bu çalışmada Anadolu Üniversitesi İletişim Bilimleri Fakültesi Basın ve Yayın Bölümünün 2012 yılında yenilenen ders programının uygulamaya konulmasının ardından gelinen noktada öğrencilerin bölüme ilişkin değerlendirmelerini almak ve ders seçimlerini etkileyen unsurları ortaya koymak amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada öğrencilerin bölüme ilişkin genel görüşleri ile birlikte ders seçerken hangi unsurları dikkate aldıkları öğrenilmeye çalışılmıştır. Öğrencilerle önce yüz yüze görüşmeler yapılarak konunun ana hatları ortaya konulmuş, sonra da tüm bölüm öğrencilerini kapsayan anket uygulaması gerçekleştirilerek analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular genel anlamda ders seçimini belirleyen üç faktörü ortaya koymaktadır: Kişisel gelişim, boş zaman ve mezun olma faktörleri. Öğrencilerin bölüme ilişkin beklentilerine bakıldığında da bu üç faktörün gözlemlendiği söylenebilmektedir

In 2012, Department of Journalism at Communication Sciences Faculty, Anadolu University renewed its curriculum. In pursuit of the implementation of the new curriculum, this study aims to get evaluations of students with respect to the department and to find out the factors influencing their course selection. The study was conducted to understand the factors affecting course selection of students as well as the general opinions about the department. Face to face interviews were conducted first to determine the main themes, after which a questionnaire consisting of these themes were conducted to all students in Journalism Department. The results reveal three factors which affect course selection: personal development, free time and graduation anxiety. When the students’ expectations from department are considered, it is observed that these three factors dominate the expectations
