Araştırmanın amacı meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin okul ve iş yaşantısına yönelik görüşlerini belirlemektir. Tarama modelinde yürütülen araştırmanın evrenini Türkiye'deki devlet üniversitelerine bağlı bütün meslek yüksekokullarında okuyan öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma, tabakalı örneklem alma ve tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen Çanakkale, İzmir, Antakya, Bolu, Porsuk, Malatya ve Adıyaman Meslek Yüksek Okullarında öğrenim gören öğrenciler üzerinde yürütülmüştür (n = 2101). Veri toplama aracı olarak yapılandırılmış anket formu kullanılmıştır. Formların değerlendirilmesinde yüzde ve frekans hesaplamaları yapılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlardan bazıları şu şekildedir: Öğrenciler açıkta kalmama, kısa sürede iş bulma, diploma sahibi olmak gibi nedenlerle okullarını tercih etmiş, buna karşın okullarından memnun değildirler. Eğitim süresi mesleğe hazırlanıp iş hayatına atılmak için yeterli görülmemektedir. İki yıllık eğitim süreci öğrencilerde ortalama ve olumsuz duygular oluşturmaktadır. Öğrenciler eğitimini aldıkları alanda çalışmak istemekle birlikte, aldıkları eğitimi iş bulma açısından yeterli bulmakta ve iş piyasasının değer verdiğine inanmamaktadır. Bu okullarda okumanın sağladığı yararların başında mesleki açıdan gelişim, diploma, kolay iş bulma fırsatı gelmektedir.

This study aims to find out the views of vocational college students regarding school and work. The universe of the study consists students studying at vocational colleges connected to the state universities throughout Turkey. By using stratified sampling and random sampling, the study was carried out on students enrolled in Çanakkale, İzmir, Antakya, Bolu, Porsuk, Malatya and Adıyaman Vocational Colleges (n = 2101). Structured interviews were used as data collection tools. In the evaluation process of data collection tools, percentages and frequencies were used. Some of the findings of the study are: The students stated the reasons for attending a vocational college as wanting to have a higher education but not being able to get into a university, finding a job in short time, and getting a diploma but they also stated their dissatisfaction with schools. The duration of training wasn't found to be sufficient to get prepared for and start the work life. It was found that 2-year training creates average and negative feelings in students. Although students want to work in the field for which they're being trained, they feel that the training provided to them at school is not sufficient to find a well-qualified job and the labor market does not find the training provided to them valuable. Some of the advantages of these schools are vocational development opportunities, having a diploma, and finding jobs relatively easier.
