Abdominal Endikasyonlar ile Elde Edilen BT Taramalarında COVID-19'a Ait Rastlantısal Respiratuar Bulgular
Coincidental Respiratory Findings of COVID-19 on Abdominal CT in Patients with Predominant Abdominal Indications
Objective: Our aim in this study was to report the findings related to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in abdominal Computed Tomography (CT) in patients presenting with abdominal symptoms. Methods: The study includes 40 adult patients (22-88 ages), who underwent abdominal CT from March-June 2020. Clinical findings, laboratory data and imaging findings were analyzed. All patients were confirmed by Revers-Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). Results: This study included patients with abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, and anorexia but without respiratory symptoms consistent with COVID-19. Abdominal pain, was the most common indication for CT in these patients without clinical suspicion of COVID-19 (n = 31) and 32 patients had no extrapulmonary findings. Conclusion: When evaluating CT scans of patients with abdominal pain, attention to lung bases may reveal clinically unexpected diagnoses of COVID-19, which may lead to early diagnosis and treatment, as well as prevention of the disease spread.
