Clinical observations on the therepeutic and preventive effect of immunomodulators in sheeppox 1. The use of levamisole for treatment and prevention in sheeppox
İn this study, therepeutic and preventive effects of levamisole were investigated in sheeppox. For treatment experiments, total 50 animals which infected with sheeppox were divided into two groups; group 1 (n=25, injected levamisole + enrofloxacine), group 11 (n=25, injected only enrofloxacine). Levamisole was applied 2,5 mg/kg S.C. route three times at interval three days and enrofloxacine was administered for 5 consecutive days, 2,5 mg/kg S.C. route. Animals infected with sheeppox which applied levamisole + enrofloxacine were recovered within 10 days in contrast to revovery occured in 18 days in control group animals which administered only antibiotic. For prevention experiments, total 50 healty animals were divided into two grous; group I (n=25, injected levamisole), group II (n=25, it was not any application, used for control). It was applied that 2,5 mg/kg oral route levamisole in this experimental. It was not observed any case of sheeppox during observations for 20 days in healty sheep that applied le¬vamisole. In conrast to sheeppox semptoms were observed in six healty animals of control group at 4,5 and 7. days which were not administered levamisole. In conclusion it was shown that administration of levamisol is beneficial in treatment and prevention of sheeppox.
