Birinci grupta, tek taraflı m. extensor carpi radialis’in ve m. extensor carpi ulnaris’in insersiyo yerinden tenektomileri yapıldı.
Comparison of the effects of flight restraint in the partridge (Alectoris chukar) by tenectomy, capsulectomy or tenectomy plus capsulectomy techniques
This study aimed comparatively at revealing the degree of deflight effects of the tenectomies of the radial and ulnar extensor carpi muscles at their insertios both extensing the carpal joint and capsulectomy of the cubiti joint possessing strong extentionflexion movements in chukars (Alectoris chukar) either seperately or in combination on flight limitation. A number of 30 mature chukars having no appearent flight faults, regardles of sex, were equally divided into three groups. The first group was applied unilateral tenectomy of the radial and ulnar carpal extensor muscles at their insertios. The second group underwent unilateral capsulectomy of the cubiti joint. Both the unilateral tenectomy and capsulectomy were applied to the third group. Fligth control was done in all the birds from all the groups on the 28th day after the surgery. These controls were carried out 5 times with 15 days of intervals to evaluate timely effects of the healing on flight. According to the study the horizontal locomotor performance tests showed that both techniques limited the flight in chukars without any physiological defects. However the capsulectomy technique was more succesful in flight limitation than the tenectomy technique
