An ınvestigation for canine parainfluenzavirus tip 5 (CPIU5) infection in Kangal race Turkish shepherd dogs as serologically
Canine Parainfluenzavirus type 5 (CPIV5) infections is associated with respiratory disease especially in young domestic dogs. The prognosis generally slight or mild when it was alone but mostly had been seeing other respiratory system pathogens. In this study, a total of 94 blood serum samples were collected from clinically healthy and adult (1 to 8 years old) Kangal dogs which are unvaccinated for CPIV in four private Kangal breeding kennels at Ankara province. As a result of evaluation of the sera samples using indirect ELISA, CPIV5 specific antibodies were found to be in 44 (46.8%) dogs. Seropositivity proportions were detected among 33.3% and 63.3% in studied dog kennels. First data for presence and proportion for CPIV5 was obtained with this study in Turkey.
