SHEETS USED IN WEIGHT REDUCTION OF AUTOMOBILE AND THEIR FORMING TECHNIQUES

The application of high strength steel sheets and aluminum alloyed sheetsto manufacturing of autobody parts has been increased day by day in order to reduceautomobile weight. Compared with the conventional sheet materials such as mildsteel, formability of these kind of steel sheets is less than that of conventional steelsheets.Reduction of automobile weight, at the same time , has made the reduction ofthickness of sheets used in auto industry obligatory. In addition; construction, innovations in welding and manufacturing technology, and reduction of part numberhave contributed for the reduction of automobile weight. But, the reduction ofthickness of steel sheets, has caused reduction of dent resistance of automobiles. Therefore, existing forming techniques have became unsatisfactory. For this reason;newly forming techniques and strength-increasing methods have been developed.
