ANAL YSIS OF FAULT CURRENTS IN MEDIUM VOLTAGE (MV) POWER DISTRIBUTION LINES WITH SUPERIMPOSED COMPONENTS

In this study by using Superimposed Components method shuntfaults are analysed for overhead power distribution systems. By using digitalfault recorded data. fault inception time. fault path currents and the type offault are found. In the proposed method, possible presence or remote infccdsource and varying nature or loads and source capacities arc taken intoaccount. The results obtained lrorn the calculations arc compared with thefault path currents obtained from a realistic distribution system which issimulated with the well known EMTP simulation package. The results showthat the proposed method Can be effectively used for overhead powerdistribution lines.
