Psycho-Training Proposal for Improving Positive Mental Health in School Age Children: Rational Emotional Behavioral Education

It is thought that school-age children do not have sufficient equipment to cope with the problems due to their developmental periods. It is very important for children to acquire the skills that enable them to cope with the challenges of daily life and the extreme demands and expectations in life. Nurses can provide training and counseling based on philosophical theory in providing the necessary psycho-social life skills for individuals. Rational Emotional Behavioral Therapy theory is an empirical scientific method and can be used by nurses in counseling activities. As for Rational Emotional Behavioral Education (REBE), it is the education derivative of this theory applied in schools. In education, while school age children are taught the ability to develop rational life philosophy for themselves and the world, on one hand, developing positive mental health, creating a positive classroom atmosphere within the school, solving daily life problems among peers, increasing motivation and life satisfaction, and preventing anxiety and depression. There is a need for educational programs that can be used in school health services and create philosophical developments in the individual. In this review article, it is thought that Rational Emotional Behavioral Education will be a guide for positive mental health improvement activities in schools and will contribute to the literature.
