Manik Dönem Sırasında Kısa Süreli ve Geçici Sigara Kullanımı: Vaka Sunumu

Sigara içme alışkanlığı, psikiyatrik hastalıklarda sık görülenbir durumdur. İki uçlu bozukluğu olan hastalarda da sigarakullanımı sıklıkla bildirilmiştir. İki uçlu bozukluğu olanhastalarda sigara kullanım oranının toplumdan yüksekolmasının, birçok faktörle ilişkili olduğu düşünülmektedir.Bu vaka sunumunda öncesinde sigara içmemesine rağmen, mani dönemine girmeden birkaç gün önce, herhangibir etki olmadan kendiliğinden sigara içmeye başlayan,sonrasında yatırıldığı yataklı servisimizde mani belirtileriazaldıkça içtiği sigara sayısı azalan ve mani belirtileridüzelince herhangi bir tedavi yapılmaksızın sigara içmeyikendiliğinden bırakan bir olgu üzerinden, sigara içme alışkanlığı ile iki uçlu bozukluk arasındaki ilişkinin tartışılmasıamaçlanmıştır.

Short-term and temporary smoking associated with manic episode: case report

The high rate of smoking in psychiatric patients is acommon condition. In patients with bipolar disorder highrates of smoking have been frequently reported. Highrates of smoking habit are believed to be associated withmany factors in patients with bipolar affective disorder.In this case report, an inpatient male patient who startedsmoking a few days before existence of manic episode,and decreasing of the numbers of smoked cigarettesday by day with the alleviation of manic symptoms,and quitted to smoke with disappearance of manicsymptoms, and some suggested treatment strategies willbe discussed over the relationship between the use ofnicotine and bipolar disorder.
