The Role of History in Understanding Israeli Politics: an Analogy between the Crusades and the Zionist Movement as a case study

In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict Israel with its Westerns alliance is continuing its extreme war against Palestine and its people. In addition to the military factor in this war there is another important element with is the war toward controlling and reshaping the identity and the historical narratives. The Zionists effort is concentrated on one target; which is proving their eternal right of the Holy Land. Their awareness of importance of history and its role in politics motivates the Zionists to reshape and fabricate the historical facts to support their claims of the Holy Land. They had shown a great deal of interest in studying the previous historical models to avoid their mistakes and conclude some lessons. One of these models is Christian Crusaders which had been intensely studied. This research aims to show the level of Zionists interests in history and how they use it to prove their right in the Holy Land. They take advantage of the Arabs and Palestinian’s ignorance of the important of history to recreate an Israeli history erase the Palestinian History. This paper also present Zionists’ interests in the Christian Crusaders aiming in avoiding their mistakes.
