A RARE CAUSE OF NASAL OBSTRUCTION DURING CHILDHOOD: SEPTAL HEMATOMA. CASE REPORT AND LITERATURE REVIEW
Introduction: Nasal septal hematoma (NSH) is the accumulation of blood between cartilage or bone septum and mucopercondrium or mucoperioste. NSH is a rare complication of nasal trauma in children. In this article, we discussed the diagnostic treatment of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl who had to be admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of nasal septal hematoma 1 week after minor trauma. Case: A 2.5-year-old girl was diagnosed with nasal septal hematoma late after in the fall a week ago. The patient underwent hematoma drainage under sedation. Conclusion: We recommend that patients should be re-examined 48-72 hours after trauma because NSH can occur late in childhood despite initial exclusion, and parents should consider septal hematoma in nasal obstruction during the 1-week period after nasal trauma.
