Investigation of vitamin levels in cows having retentio secundinarium
The effects of vitamin deficiency on retained placenta a common problem in cows after partution have been investigated. 25 cows with retained placenta from the Uludağ University Veterinary Medicine Faculty Clinics and 9 healthy cows from U.U. Research Farm, were used as research materials. Blood samples were used taken from vena jugularis, sera were collected and analysed for vitamin E, C and p carotene. The values belong to healthy cows were %0.830 mg, %0.624 mg, %103.22 meg and for the cows with retained placenta %0.295 mg, %0.481 mg and %52.58 meg respectively. Statistical importance between the differences of two groups; for vitamin E p < O.001, vitamin C p < 0.05 and $beta$ -carotene p< 0.01 were estimated. As conclusion; in this research the main reason of retained placenta was the vitamin deficiency.
