Türkiye ve İsrail bölgesinde her zaman dikkate alınmış iki ülkedir. Bu çalışmada ele alınan 1948-1960 dönemi her iki ülkenin de tarihinde önemli bir periyoddur. Türkiye’nin kendini Sovyet tehdidi altında olduğu bu süreçte Batı ile ilişkileri çok büyük bir önem taşımıştır. İsrail ise 1948 yılında kurulmuş ve kuruluşu ile birlikte çok önemli bir varoluşsal tehditle yüzleşmiştir. Bu iki ülkenin kendi sorunlarının hallolmasında birbirini bir denge unsuru olarak kullandığı bu dönem her iki ülke açısından da inişler ve çıkışların yaşandığı ama ilişkilerin asla kopmadığı bir dönem olmuştur. İlişkilerin başlangıcından kırılma noktalarına çok kritik bir tarihsel dönem bu çalışmada ele alınmıştır.

This study focuses on the relationship between Turkey and Israel between 1948-1960. This period witnessed important developments for both countries. For Turkey, its relations with the West were vital and Turkey considered the West as an ally because it was exposed to a serious Soviet threat. During the same period, Israel also had to face important challenges because it was a newly-founded country and was fighting for its very existence. To solve their own problems, both countries used each other as a lever to recover their equilibrium in their foreign policy. As a result of these challenges both countries face, the period between 1948 and 1960 became a period during which the relationship between two countries had ups and downs but never broke completely. This paper provides a historical account of the relations between two countries during this very critical period.
