Günümüzde bazı yazarlar ve hayvan hakları savunucuları kurban ibadetini hayvan hakları bakımından eleştirmekte, İslâm’da kan akıtma şeklinde böyle bir ibadetin olmadığını ileri sürmektedirler. Hâlbuki naslar ve onları yorumlayan İslâm âlimleri kurbanın kan akıtma şeklinde bir ibadet olduğunu ve alternatifinin olmadığını gözler önüne sermektedir. Öte yandan kurban ibadetinin özü, pratiği ve toplumsal gerçekler onun hayvan hakları açısından bir aykırılık taşımadığını da açık bir şekilde ortaya koymaktadır

In the modern times, some authors and animal right campaigners criticize the sacrifice worship in terms of animal rights and they claim that there is no worship such a slaughter in Islam. However, the Islamic scholars who interpret the Quran and Sunnah claim that the sacrifice is definitely worship in the form of the shed of blood and there is no alternative of it. On the other hand, the essence of sacrificial worship and its practice and social realities prove clearly that the sacrificial worship is not contrary to animal rights.
