Geçmişten günümüze kadar insanoğlunun inanç, istek ve duygularını ifade edebilmek arzusu ile toplumlar arasında birbiriyle kültürel açıdan etkileşim ve iletişimde bulunarak kendine özgü bir sanat anlayışını ortaya çıkarmıştır. Toplumlardaki bu sanat anlayışı ile üretilen sanat eserleri de insanlar arasında önemli bir iletişim aracı vazifesini görmüştür. Bu sayede iletişim aracı olarak sanat, insan yaşantısıyla iç içe olan, toplumsal değer, yargı ve ideallerin belirlenmesinde, hayata geçirilmesinde önemli özelliklerini bünyesinde barındırmıştır. “Genel olarak sanat, insanların doğa karşısındaki duygu ve düşüncelerini çizgi, renk, biçim, ses ve ritim gibi araçlarla güzel ve etkili bir biçimde ve kendi, kişisel üsluplarıyla ifade etme çabasından doğan faaliyetlerin bütünüdür.” Geçmişten günümüze kadar farklı biçimlerde sanatın içinde yer alan iletişim kavramı insanlık tarihi boyunca daima mesaj verici bir niteliğe sahip olmuştur. Bu kavramlardan sembol, imge, çizgi, renk, şekil ve benzeri unsurlarla resim, müzik, heykel gibi sanat dallarında insanlara mesajlar verilmesi amaçlanmıştır. İnsanlar, bu sanat dallarındaki eserlerde verilen mesajlarla hayalleri, duyguları ve düşünceleri arasında bağlantılar kurmuştur. Bu bağlamda, günümüz Türk resim sanatçılarından Nevin Çokay, insanlara anlatmak istedikleriyle eserlerinde kullandığı renk, biçim, imge ve sembollerden yola çıkarak bir iletişim dili oluşturmuştur. Seçtiği konularla eserlerinde toplumsal olayları kendi penceresinden bizlere tercüme etmeye çalışmıştır. Bu araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi yöntemi ile yapılmıştır.

From the past to the present, human beings have created an art of their own by interacting and communicating internal cultural components between societies with their beliefs, desires and the desire for expression to come true. Art works produced with this understanding of art in societies have also served as an important communication tool between people. In this way, art as a means of communication; It has embodied important features in determining social values, judgments and ideals, which are intertwined with human life, and in their reflection on life. Art is the expression of people's emotions and their own styles by means of lines, colors, forms, sounds, words, movements and rhythms. The concept of communication has taken place in different forms throughout human history and has a message-giving quality. The aim of giving messages to people in art branches such as painting, music, sculpture with different symbols, images, lines, colors, shapes and similar elements. People have made connections between the dreams and messages given in the works of these branches of art, and their feelings and thoughts. In this context, Nevin Çokay, one of the Turkish painting artists, has created a communication language based on what people want to tell and the colors, shapes, images and symbols they use in their products. With the information he chose, he tried to translate the social files on the devices that he listened to himself. This research was conducted with the document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods. The aim of the research is to interpret the art and communication networks by evaluating the selected data in terms of the symbols and colors used.
