Hasan Ali Yücel: A Leader Transforming Turkish Education and Culture between Years 1938 and 1946

Biograp hic studies p rovide long term p ersp ectives on leadership, learning of leadership attributes and itsdevelop ment. It is clear that lif e story of a leader is an imp ortant source of inf ormation that p rovidesf ollowers with inf ormation about the traits and behaviors of the leader. Thus, the current study seeks to off eran in-dep th look at transf ormational leader attributes of Hasan Ali Yücel, one of the p rominent intellectuals ofthe Rep ublican p eriod in history of Turkey, f rom the p ersp ective of Bass and Avolio (1993) . Based on thep ublic documents (e.g., archival materials, books and j ournals written by Yücel and other authors),biograp hies, p hotograp hs and sp eeches, f our general f rames of transf ormational leadership ; idealizedinf luence and charisma, insp irational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized considerationwere handled to reveal transf ormational leader characteristics of Hasan Ali Yücel.
