Tefekkür, f-k-r kökünden tefe'ul vezninde türetilmiş bir mastardır. Bir şey hakkında fikir imal etmek manasına gelmektedir. İnsana özgü bu kabiliyetin gelişme ve beslenmesini sağlayan sebep ve unsurlar olduğu gibi onun güdük ve cılız kalmasına sebep olan unsurların da olması kaçınılmazdır. Tefekkür gibi münhasıran insana mahsus olan bir kabiliyetin gelişmesini engelleyen unsurlar ise gaflet, ülfet, kibir, taklit ve cehalet olarak sıralanabilir. Şimdi bu tefekkür engellerini sırasıyla tahlil ve izah etmeye çalışacağız.
