Producing knowledge of the middle east in the middle east

The Middle East has often been regarded as a region characterized by rapid and continuous change and instability, and accordingly defined as a laboratory of events. Therefore, it is a task of the intellectuals and academicians of the Middle East to produce some indigenous (local) theories which will contribute to casting and understanding a new picture of the Middle East. This article also stresses the need for new theories of International Relations in order to better grasp ever-changing world affairs. The article concludes with a brief analysis of the present performance of the Middle East regarding theory generation.
