Alchemilla is a genus of herbaceous perennial plants in the Rosaceae, and a popular garden herb with the common name Lady’s Mantle. Alchemilla species Herba Alchemillae are used in traditional medicine topically for wounds as well as orally for acute diarrhoea, dysmenorrhoea, menorrhagia, etc. Different studies showed that the phenolic compounds tannins, flavonoids, etc. found in the plant are responsible for the pharmacological activity of Lady’s mantle. In this review, informations about traditional uses, chemical constituents and biological activities of Alchemilla species are given.
