Yurdumuzun birçok yöresinde oldugu gibi Tokat İlinde de sonbahar başından ilkbahar sonuna kadar olan devrede boş olan yaklaşık 50.000 ha sulu tarım arazisinde Çin lahanası yetiştiriciliği ile değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla Asya Sebzecilik Araştırma ve Geliştirme Merkezi (AVRDC)’nin ,9 çeşidi araştırılmıştır. Bunlar; NP77M{3)-40, 77M(2/3)~46, 77MH 82-156, 77MH-82-157; 77MH 83-20; 77MH 85-202; 77MH 85-216; 77MH 62(HT) s. check; B-40 (HS) c, çeşitleridir. Bu amaçla 1 Nisan ve 1 Ağustos tarihlerinde ekim yapılmıştır. 1 Nisan tohum ekiminde tüm çeşitler dikimden sonra değişik zaman¬larda tohuma kalkmıştır. Bu ekim dönemine uygun çeşit bulunama¬mıştır. 1 Ağustos ekiminde 77MH 83-20 ve B-40(HS) check dışında kalan diğer 7 çeşit değişik zamanlarda tohuma kalkmışlardır. Bu ekim döne¬mine uygun 2 çeşit belirlenmiştir. Bunlar 77 MH 83-02 B-40 (HS) check çeşitleridir.

Abaut 50,000 hectares of irrigated land is avilable in Tokat province where land is left fallow for the period between autumn and spring. However on small scale uneconomic vegetable cultuvation is being practiced in the region; The object of this study is to bring this land under cultivation during autumn and spring periods with Chi¬nese cabbage having oconomie importance for this region. For this purpose 9 varieties were brought from Asian Vegetable Research De¬velopment Centre (AVRDC). These are; NP 77M (3)-40, 77M (2/3)~46. 77MH 82-156, 77MH 82-157, 77MH 83-20; 77MH 85-202; 77MH 85-216; 77MH 62 (NT), s. check, B-40 (HS} check. Fo this purpose Chinese cabbage has been two sown on different dates that is 1st April, and 1st August. AH plants, that were sown on 1 April, bolted on different dates. No cultivars has been found suitable for this sowing period. 7 cultivars grown on 1 August premature bolted expect 77MH 83-20 and B-40 (HS) c. 2 cultivars has been found suitable for this sowing period. These are 77MH 83-20 and B-40 (HS) check.
