Tahrik kabiliyetini arttırmanın pratik bir yolu da, sürtünme katsayısı ile doğrudan ilgili olan kasnak yiv profilinin değiştirilmesidir. Her yiv profili için sürtünme katsayısı değişik yollarla ifade edilir. Alttan oyuk yiv ile yarım daire yiv profilleri için yiv form faktörü ve sürtünme katsayısı Airy Gerilme Fonksiyonu ile tanımlanır. Bu çalışmada halat ile yiv temas yüzeyi arasındaki açının ve alttan oyuk açısının yiv form faktörü ve sürtünme katsayısı üzerine etkileri ele alınmıştır.

A practical way to increase the traction capacity is to change the sheave groove form mention how traction is related to the coefficient of friction. The coefficient of friction is presented in different ways for every groove form. The groove coefficient and coefficient of friction of undercut and round grooves have been determined using Airy Stress Function. In this study the effects of the angle between the rope and the groove contact surface and the angle of undercut on the coefficient of friction are discussed.
