W.D.ROSS’UN “PRIMA FACIE DUTY” KAVRAMI

Bu makalede, temel ahlak teorilerini eleştiren ve farklı bir bakış açısıyla çoğulcu bir ahlak anlayışı geliştiren William David Ross ve ‘primafacieduty’ kavramı ele alınmıştır. Geleneksel deontoloji, ahlaki bir eylemin doğru ya da yanlış olup olmadığını belirleyen temel ölçütü, yani kriterin tekliğini vurgular. Lakin Ross, birden fazla temel değerden söz etmiştir. David Ross, bir eylemi doğru yapma eğiliminde olan birkaç farklı özellik olduğunu söyler. Bu özelliklerin tek bir özelliğe indirgenemeyeceğini iddia eder. Ross, doğru eylemlerde kendini gösteren ahlaki yükümlülüklerin analizini yapmaya çalışmıştır. Sezgi yoluyla bilinen bu yükümlülükleri “ilk bakışta ödev”ler olarak kategorize etmiştir.

WILLIAM DAVID ROSS’ CONCEPT OF “PRIMA FACIE DUTY”

This article discusses the concept of a prima facie duty and William David Ross who has developed pluralistic moral sentiment from a different perspective and criticized the basic theories of morality. Traditional deontology puts emphasis on the basic criteria which determines whether a moral act is right or wrong, that is, the oneness of the criteria. However, Ross mentioned more than one basic value. David Ross says there are a few different features that tend to make an action right. Ross claims that these properties cannot be reduced to a single feature. Ross tried to analyze the moral obligations that manifested itself in the right actions. He categorized these obligations as “prima facie duties”, which are intuitively recognized.
