ANTİK YUNAN FELSEFESİ’NDE “FANTASİA”NIN EPİSTEMOLOJİK ROLÜ

Bu makalede, düşünce tarihinde oldukça karmaşık bir serüveni olan fantasia φαντασία kavramının Antik Yunan Felsefesi’ndeki epistemolojik rolü üzerinde durulacaktır. Bu amaçla önce kavramın Platon'da nasıl kullanıldığına bakılacak, ardından Aristoteles'in bilhassa De Anima isimli eseri merkezinde fantasia’nın nasıl tanımlandığı ve ne gibi bir epistemolojik görev üstlendiği incelenecektir. Ardından Stoacılar ve Epikurosçular’ın konuyla ilgili görüşleri üzerinde durulacak ve son olarak da Plotinos’un düşüncelerine yer verilecektir. Bu çalışma yürütülürken, fantasia kavramının özellikle duyusal olan ve akılsal olan arasında nasıl bir köprü vazifesi gördüğü gösterilmeye çalışılacak, ayrıca fantasia’nın hafıza ile olan yakın ilgisine de dikkat çekilecektir

Epistemological Status Of “Phantasia” In The Philosophy Of Ancient Greek

In this paper the concept of phantasia φαντασία , which has a complex adventure in the history of philosophy, will be discussed by its epistemological aspects in Ancient Greek Philosophy. For this purpose, we will firstly focus on Plato’s usage of this concept, and then we will analyze how he defines and uses phantasia epistemologically by taking into account Aristole’s De Anima. After this, Stoic and Epicurean philosophy will be emphasized and lastly Plotinus’ thought will be discussed in the context of phantasia. Throughout this study, we will try to put on the map that phantasia fulfills the task of establishing a bridge between the sensory and the rational elements, and at the same time it has an important function for the memory
