The determination of some heavy metal levels in Capoeta copoeta umbla (Heckel, 1843) caugth from Hazar Lake
In this study, the levels of some heavy metals (Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cd, Cr, Co and Pb) in muscle, gill, skin, liver, gonad and kidney of 200 of Capoeta capoeta umbla caught from Hazar Lake (Elazığ) and in the water sampled from same region as fish were caught have been investigated. Co, Cr, Cd and Pb were not found in detectable levels both in water samples and in any organs and tissues according to results obtained by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The concentrations of detected heavy metals (Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn) were the highest in liver and the lowest in the muscle. In addition, it has been found that the concentrations of Cu, Fe, Mn and Zn were found different in various tissues and organs. The obtained results were compared with the other tolerable values for heavy metals provided from Ministry of Agriculture and it was determined that there was not any risk for humans healty when this fish species was consumed as food.
