Görseller evrensel bir dildir. Sanatın her dalında kendine has bir dil vardır. Görsel sanatlarında kendine has bir görsel dili vardır. Bu dil görsel sembollerden oluşmaktadır. Görsel semboller görsel iletişimi ve dolayısı ile evrensel dili oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı; görsel sanatları semboller ve iletişim açısından irdelemek, sanatın evrensel dil olma boyutunu tartışmak ve görsel sanatlar eğitiminin önemini vurgulamaktır. Çalışmada tarama yöntemlerinden biri olan literatür taramasından faydalanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre; iletişimde görme duyusu önemli rol oynamaktadır, sanatın her dalında ve sanatçının kendini ifade etmesinde semboller etkili olmaktadır. Sanatta sembollerin kullanılması sanatın iletişim boyutunu ve dolayısı ile evrensel dili oluşturmaktadır, sanat; kültürün, toplum ve iletişim oluşmasında rol almaktadır, çocuk resimlerinde semboller sıkça yer almaktadır ve çocuklar kendini ifade etmede sembolleri kullanarak iletişim kurmaya çalışmaktadırlar. Sonuç olarak sanatın görsel dilini öğrenmek iletişim için önemlidir, Bu iletişimin ve evrensel dilin öğrenilmesi sanat eğitimini gerekli kılmaktadır.

Visuals are an international language. In every branch of art there is a specific language. Visual arts have also their own visual language. This language consists of visual symbols. Visual symbols constitute visual communication and therefore international language. The aims of this study are; examine of visual arts as regards symbols and communication, discuss about art as regards of being an international art and express the importance of visual arts education. It has been benefited from literature search that is a kind of survey method. According to obtained data; visual sense plays an important role in communication, symbols are effective on artist's own expression and on every branch of art. Use of symbols in art, constitutes the dimension of communication of art and therefore universal language. Art also plays a role in constitution of community, culture and communication. Symbols frequently can be seen in children's drawings and children try to make communication with use of symbols for express themselves. Consequently, communication is important for learn of art's visual language. Learn of this communication and universal language, requires art education.
