Klasik Materyalizmin Mahiyeti ve Son Dönem Osmanlı Düşünürleri Arasında Yayılışı

The main purpose of this paper is to deal with classical materialism (a philosophical theory holds that all things are composed of material and all phenomena are the result of material interactions) and its expansion among some intellectuals during the last decades of Ottoman Empire. Due to the complexity of this issue, I will not tackle with all of the related ideas of the Tanzimat and Meşrutiyet periods. Nevertheless, the entering of this theory into late Ottoman thought, its acceptance by some pro-western thinkers of that period, and its cultural influences, will be shown in this work.
