Sokrates as a Trainer of Ethics: The Problematic Whether Wisdom Can be Taught or Not

In this study Socrates's ideas will be scrutinized with respect to the point whether wisdom could be taught or not. Chief among the questions to be asked within the context of ethics-education is whether wisdom could be taught. In the realm upon which the question is based underlies the parallelism between ethics and knowledge. In this respect, Socrates is the first person to attract attention the relation between ethics and knowledge. The main supposition within the context of this relation manifested by Socrates is that knowledge is wisdom. Thus, it can be deduced that if ethics to be accepted as knowledge, this knowledge is supposed to be teachable. However, in this dialogues, Socrates maintains that wisdom can not be taught though he accepts it as knowledge. This brings to mind the problematic revealed as a contradiction whether wisdom can be taught or not.
