TEMPOROMANDİBULAR RAHATSIZLIKLARIN TEDAVİSİNDE KULLANILAN OKLÜZAL SPLİNTLER

Temporomandibular rahatsızlıkların tedavisinde oklüzal splintlerin kullanımı yaygın bir yaklaşımdır. Oklüzal splintler temporomandibular eklemin fonksiyonunu arttırmak ve stabilize etmek, çiğneme sistemi fonksiyonlarını geliştirmek ve anormal kas aktivitelerini azaltmak, dişleri atrizyondan ve travmatik kuvvetlerden korumak amacıyla alt ve üst çeneye uygulanan genellikle akrilik yapıdaki apareylerdir. Oklüzal splint tipleri arasında en çok kullanılan apareyler stabilizasyon splinti, ön ısırma plağı, mandibular konumlandırıcı aparey ve yumuşak splinttir. Oklüzal splintlerin etki mekanizması halen tartışmalı bir konu olsa da endike olduğu bir çok vakada kullanımında başarı elde edildiği görülmektedir. Oklüzal splint tedavisi oldukça geniş bir konudur. Bu konuda iyi planlanmış araştırmaların yapılması soru işaretlerini çözecektir.
