Rehabilitation of Edentulous Maxilla With Implant-Supported Bar Overdenture- A Case Report

Dental implants have an important role in treatment of edentulous patients. Implantsupported overdentures are the primary treatment modality in cases presenting resorbed posterior maxilla with no available bone for implant placement. They have the advantages of increasing retention and stability of the denture, restoring the decreased labial and buccal support, recovering the appropriate occlusal dimension and improving the esthetics. Bars, balls and locators are used for retention in maxillary overdentures. However, bar retainers are the primary attachment system for patients having a few number of implants or implants not paralel to each other since they connect the implants and provide a unique path of insertion. This report describes the rehabilitation of a patient with maxillary implant-supported CAD/CAM milled-bar overdenture to provide splinting of implants.
