Muhabbet Kuşu (Melopsittacus undulatus) ve Kanaryalarda (Serin us canaria) Megabakteriosis
Megahacteriosis in Budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus) and Canaries (Serinus canaria)
Megabacteria were isolated from budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus)
and canaries (Serinus canaria) showing elinical symptorris of"going light
syndrome" in 45.58 % of 68 cases. Haemolytic rough colonies were observed
on blood agar within 48 hours of ineubatian at 37 oc with an atmesphere
of 5 % C02, 80 % humidity. Positive reactions were observed in catalas
and oxidase tests.
The isolation of megabacteria from budgerig~rs and canaries, which
has not been repoıted pniviously in Turkey ,.and the macroscopic and histopathologic
features caused by megabacteries have been descriebed in deail.
