The Research of Clenbuterol Residues on Samples lmported Beef Catt1e

In this study, 1000 urine samples, tak en from beef cattles w hi ch are imported by Turkey, have been examined in terms of clenbuterol residues . 30 urine samples, taken from beef cattles slaughtered in Erzurum Meat and Fish Foundation Slaughterhouse, w as taken to analyze as blank in order to be used in recovery studies and the determination of background values wich exhibit the biological matrix effect. In this study, ELISA technique was applied by use of ready commercial kits which make possible to determine clenbuterol in picogram level from cattle urine. In the blank samples, clebuterol equivalent binding values (B/B0 ) was determined as minimum 78 .2%, maximum 88.3%, mean 82.7%. The results of control samples, which was usedin recovery studies, was found to be minimum 93.9%, maximum 97 .9% and mean 95.1 %. In the second period of this study, 1000 urine samples taken from cattles which are imported by Turkey, have been examined in terms of clenbuterol residues and the results was found to be negative'.
