Current approaches of canine hip dysplasia. part ıı: clinical diagnosis of cannine hip dysplasia

Hip dysplasia (HD) is a progressive disease which develops during postnatal skeletal growth and arises with a number of factors. A definitive diagnosis can be made by radiography when secondary signs of degenerative joint disease (DJD) are present. However, it is essential to prevent DJD by early diagnosis, and to apply proper treatment to avoid the progression of HD. The important point of early diagnosis is to determine the laxity, joint morphology, and congruity of hip joint by clinical signs and radiography. When HD is diagnosed, the patient should be followed up for the characteristic changes of hip joint. The objective of the second part of this review is to share the findings of inspection and palpation that are frequently used of clinical diagnostic methods with our colleagues.
