Current approaches of canine hip dysplasia. Part I : etiology and pathogenesis of canine hip dysplasia.

Hip dysplasia is a very common biomechanical disease on large breed dogs that the instability of hip joint is changing owing to the both forces of improving femoral head and acetabulum. They influenced on the joint improvement and structure and cause abnormal joint structure and secondarily degenerative joint disease. Recent researches are related to etiopathogenesis and early diagnosis, aimed to decrease its incidence, for fundamental approaches of hip dysplasia. Degenerative joint disease can be prevented for control of hip dysplasia, but it needs early diagnosis. For this purpose, the numbers of clinical and radiological evaluation methods are improved. The aim of first part of this review is explained detailed information to our colleagues about joint laxity which is guide of early diagnosis on hip dysplasia, etiological factors and pathogenesis.
