II. Meşrutiyet’in sağladığı koşullarda kendine yaygınlaşma ve gelişme olanağı bu-lan sporla birlikte spora ilişkin gazete ve dergiler de yayın hayatına atılmışlardır. Futbol, Terbiye ve Oyun, İdman ilk dergilerdendir. İdman, kendinden öncekiler gibi sporu sınırlı bir çerçevede ele almaz. Diğer spor dallarına da etraflıca değinmiştir. Bu eğilimi nedeniyle Türk spor basınının ilk kapsamlı dergisi olarak nitelenebilir. Kapsamlı bir spor dergisi olduğundan o günlerde var olan tüm spor dallarına ilişkin haber ve yorumlara sayfalarında geniş yer ayırır. Spor bilmeceleri yaynlayan ilk dergidir. Türkçe bir spor dili oluşturulmasına, Osmanlı Spor Federasyonunun yapısı konusundaki görüşleriyle örgütlenme çalışma-lanna sağladığı katkılar dikkate değerdir.

In the appropiate conditions of the era after the 2nd Constitutional Monarchy, sports flourished and spread and with it, papers and magazines related with sports started to publish. Futbol (football), Terbiye ve Oyun (training and game), dman (training) were the first magazines. Differing from the publications before it, the dman did not limit sports to a traditional perspective. Various sports branches were covered comprehensively which makes it the first extensive magazine of the Turkish sports press. All actual news and interpretations about virtually all sports branches and events of these times found extensive coverage in its pages. It was the first sports magazine that published sports quizzes. It made important contributions in the construction of a Turkish sports language and by its views on the future structure of the Ottoman Sports Federation, it made an also important contribution on the organization of Turkish sports
