Pre-clinical studies on propolis

Propolis is one of the most investigated natural products for their effects on health in recent years. However, these investigations did not go beyond the chemical analysis, in vitro and animal studies. In our country, a lot of people use propolis either consciously or unconsciously as an adjuvant to medical therapy or prophylactic purposes. In this review, chemical structure, standardization, and pre-clinical studies of propolis are summarized. Moreover, the necessity and importance of clinical studies for propolis are also emphasized.
