Uncertainties in cement industry in Turkey and swot analysis of Turkish cement industry

Uncertainty is defined as a situation in which many outcomes of a particular alternative are possible but the probability of each outcome is unknown in decision making process. Uncertainty, which is composed of three forms as price uncertainty, technological uncertainty, and price-technological uncertainty, influences the evaluation process of future events and arises as surprises. Behaviors of firm under uncertainty are directly related to state of the industry in which the firm operates. SWOT analysis, which explicate the strenghts and weaknesses of the firm and analyze the opportunities and threats around the firm, plays very important role in the strategic management cycle. Cement industry having 4,5 billion Dollars revenue and 1 billion Dollar export volume plays very important role in Turkey’s economy. Turkish cement industry is very sensitive to economic crisis and involves many uncertainties. In this study, the uncertainties in Turkish cement industry were analyzed and the SWOT analysis of Turkish cement industry was performed.
