Contraceptive Methods, Pregnancy And Breastfeeding After Organ Transplantation

The purpose is to review the literature on birth control methods, pregnancy and breastfeeding after organ transplantation. Information on safe and effective birth control methods after transplantation in the literature varies. Patients need to be informed about birth control methods after organ transplantation. It has been observed that liver and kidney transplant patients develop health problems including hypertension, gestational diabetes and preeclampsia during pregnancy more than do healthy people. Although the incidence of premature or low-birth weight infants is higher among them, the malformation incidence is stated to be close to that in normal population. In order to have fewer problems in transplant patients, a multidisciplinary approach should be displayed, and nurses should be able to determine the patient's nursing care needs and maintain the appropriate care
