Eğitim, bireyin bir bütün olarak gelişmesi ve yaşamdaki tüm rollerini en verimli biçimde yerine getirebilmesi için gerekli nitelikleri kazanmasında büyük rol almaktadır. Toplumumuzun bu gelişmelere ayak uydurabilmesi için eğitim sürecinde, Psikolojik Danışmanlık ve Rehberlik alanında yetişmiş uzmanlar önderliğinde, sınıf öğretmenlerinin ve diğer ilgililerin işbirliği ile mesleki ve özel yaşamlarında fizyolojik, duygusal ve toplumsal gereksinmelerini karşılayabilen ve sağlıklı iletişim kurabilen bireyler yetiştirmek biz öğretmenlerin önemli bir hedefi haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışma, cinsiyet, yaş, sınıf ve okulun yer aldığı bölgelere göre çeşitli değişkenleri açısından belirlenmesi amacıyla nicel ve nitel karşılaştırmalı tanımlayıcı olarak incelenmiştiır. Araştırmanın örneklemi Mart- Mayıs 2007 tarihleri arasında KKTC Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı G. Mağusa ilçesinde bulunan İlköğretimde okuyan 200 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Verilerin toplanmasında, veri toplama aracı olarak Holland'ın ilgi Alanları Envanteri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin değerlendirilmesinde, SPPS istatistik paket programına işlenerek aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma, çapraz tablo, kay kare ve excel kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir.

Adopting to changes within a competitive environment, Northern Cyprus is one of the developing countries to be modernized. Regarding to changes to the global, contemporary standards, there is an intensified need to consider the criteria of adopting changes. Development of individuals and their position within the society rely on the notion of education. Satisfaction of individuals and social needs, oppurtunities are arisen on the important roles of teachers to guide students' conciousnesses. In today's context, guidance teachers are necessasy for managing changes by stressing the collaboration in vocational and social needs. Choosing a convenient job within the career development process is the essential consideration in the vocational guidance. Therefore, decision making for the students' careers is the factor to put emphasis on being life long learners. The research study aims to identify the vocational tendencies of primary school students in the Famagusta region of North Cyprus. Data is collected by considering the source of Holland's of attitude scale and analyzed through qualitative and quantitative approaches by SPSS and thematic analysis.
