PATENT KORUMASI İLERİ TEKNOLOJİ İÇEREN ÜRÜNLERİN İTHALATINI ARTTIRIYOR MU? TÜRKİYE ÖRNEĞİ

Patent haklarının uluslararası ticaret akımları üzerine etkisini inceleyen çalışmaların önemli bir kısmı, analizlerini gelişmiş ülkeler perspektifinden yapmışlardır. Ancak, patent hakları ile ilgili tartışmaların en önemli ayağını gelişmekte olan ülkeler oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışma literatüre, Türkiye’de patent haklarının güçlendirilmesinin ileri teknoloji içeren ürünler ithalatı üzerine etkisini analiz ederek katkı yapmaktadır. Ampirik bulgular ışığında patent haklarının güçlendirilmesi, hem dokuz ayrı ürün grubu açısından hem de bu ürün gruplarının toplamı açısından ithalatı arttırmakta ve piyasa genişlemesi etkisine neden olmaktadır.

DOES PATENT RIGHTS PROTECTION INCREASE HIGH TECHNOLOGY IMPORTS? THE CASE OF TURKEY

Most of studies on the impacts of patent rights on international trade flows have analysed from perspective of developed countries. However, the developing countries constitute important part of debates about patent rights. This study contributes literature by analysing the impact of stronger patent rights in Turkey on high tech imports. The empirical results suggest that stronger patent rights increase high tech imports at the aggregate and nine product categories
