Akneli hastalarda akne şiddeti ve depresyon ilişkisi
Amaç. Akne vulgaris genellikle yüz ve gövde üst kısmını etkileyen, pilosebase ünitenin kronikinflamatuar hastalığıdır. Akne direkt bir psikolojik bozukluğa yol açmamakla birlikte kişideönemli psikolojik değişiklikler oluşturabilir. Özellikle orta ve şiddetli aknesi olan hastalarda vücutimajında bozulma, özsaygıda azalma, sosyal izolasyon, aktivite bozuklukları, anksiyete,depresyon, kızgınlık, intihar düşüncesi ve intihar girişimi olabileceği rapor edilmiştir. Bizimçalışmamızda amaç akne şiddeti ile depresyon arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Yöntem.Çalışmaya toplam olarak 171 akne vulgarisli hasta alındı. Bu hastaların 54ünde hafif, 59undaorta, 58inde şiddetli akne vardı. Hastaların yaş, cinsiyet ve akne şiddetlerinin yanısıra BeckDepresyon Ölçeği uygulanarak depresyon skorları belirlendi. Bulgular. Akneli hastalardadepresyon varlığı ile akne şiddeti ve yaş arasında ilişki bulunmamakla birlikte, kızlarda erkekleregöre daha fazla depresyon görülmektedir. Sonuç. Hastaların akne problemleri yanında psikolojikdurumları da gözden geçirilmeli ve gerekirse psikolojik destek düşünülmelidir.
The relationship between acne severity and depression in patients with acne
Aim. Acne vulgaris is a chronic inflammattory disease of pilosebaceous unit which usually effectsthe upper part of the body and face. Although acne does not cause a psychological disorderdirectly, it can create important pyscological changes in the person. Especially in patients withmoderate to severe acne, it has been reported that deterioration of the body image, decreased self- esteem, social isolation, activity disorders, anxiety, depression, anger, suicidal ideation and suicideattempt may develop. The aim of our study was to examine the relationship between depressionand acne severity. Methods. A total of 171 acne patients were included into the study. Of thesepatients, 54 mild, 59 moderate, 58 had severe acne. In addition to age, sex and acne severity, usingBeck Depression Inventory depression scores were recorded. Results. Although there was norelationship between the presence of depression and age and acne severity in patients with acne,depression was more common in the females than males. Conclusion. As well as patients acneproblems, their psychological status should be evaluated and if necessary, psychological supportshould be considered.
