Okul öncesi 5-6 yaş ve okul dönemi 10-11 yaş normal işiten çocukların işitme engelli çocuklar ve işitme cihazları hakkındaki düşünceleri ve entegrasyonun etkileri

Bu çalışma, Nisan 1996 ile Şubat 1997 arasında Hacettepe Üniversitesi Odyoloji Bölümü tarafından yapıldı. Çalışma okul öncesi 5-6 yaş ve okul dönemi 10-11 yaş normal işiten çocukların işitme engelli çocuk ve işitme cihazına ilişkin düşüncelerini ve bu konudaki bilgilerini araştırmak üzere planlandı. Araştırmaya, 30 tane okul öncesi ve 30 tane de okul dönemi olmak üzere toplam 60 çocuk dahil edildi. Çocuklara sırası ile önce cep tipi sonra kulak arkası işitme cihazı kullanan çocuk resmi 15 sn. süre ile gösterilerek neler hatırladıkları soruldu. Daha sonra aynı çocuklara işitme engeli ve işitme cihazı konusunda düzenlenmiş olan bir anket formu uygulandı. Çalışmayı oluşturan her iki grubun sorulara verdikleri cevaplar karşılaştırılarak elde edilen verilerin Mann - Whitney U testi ile istatistiki değerlendirilmesi yapıldı. Değerlendirme sonucunda; okul öncesi gruptaki çocukların daha duygusal, konu hakkında kısıtlı bilgi sahibi olduğu ve sosyal yönden kabul edilme kaygısı içermeyen cevaplar verdiği, okul dönemi çocukların ise daha mantık yürüten, durumun gerektirdiği ve sosyal yönden kabullenme kaygısı içeren cevaplar verdikleri görüldü. Çocukların genel tutumlarında işitme engelli çocuklara ve işitme cihazlarına karşı çok olumsuz olmadıkları, bilakis onlara karşı duygusal ve yardımcı olma eğiliminde oldukları görüldü.

The evaluation and comparement of preschool and school age children's thoughts and informations about hearing aids and hearing impairment

This study has been planned to investigate the attitudes of normal hearing children (at the age of 5 to 6 and 10 to 11) towards hearing impaired children. Besides their consideration and knowledge of hearing aids. The study consisted of totally 60 children, 30 preschool and 30 school age. After watching 15 seconds the children were asked about what they remembered from the child' s picture in which the child had a body type hearing aid and then with a behind the ear type hearing aid. Later on, a questioner was used to evaluate the children's knowledge about the hearing handicap and the hearing aids. The answers of the two groups were compared with each other and the results were statistically evaluated with Mann - Whitney U test. As a result of the evaluation , the preschool children were more emotional and had limited knowledge about the subject. But the school age children did not show any emotional attitude to the situation. In general, the children did not show any negative attitude towards the hearing impaired children and their hearing aids. On the contrary they had some positive emotional and for logical feeling with a wish to help.
