ADAPTATION OF COVID-19 RISK PERCEPTION INTO TURKISH: A VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY

The main purpose of the current research is to adapt the Covid-19 risk perception scale developed by Plohl and Musil (2021) into Turkish and to reveal its reliability and validity. In this context, 887 data were obtained from the employees working in the public and private sectors, by using the convenience and snowball sampling methods via survey. While internal consistency (Cronbach alpha) and split-half method were used to test the reliability of the scale, explanatory and confirmatory factor analyzes were applied to test the construct validity. In addition, job satisfaction, task performance and intention to leave scales were used to determine the validity of divergent, convergent and criterion validity. As a result of the data analysis, the internal consistency coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.92, and it was confirmed that it had a one-dimensional structure consistent with the original measurement tool. Moreover, it has been determined that Covid-19 risk perception scale provides construct validity, divergent validity, convergent validity and criterion validity. The findings reveal that the Covid-19 risk perception scale developed by Plohl and Musil (2021) and adapted to Turkish is a very reliable and valid scale that can be used in studies to be conducted in the context of Turkey. In this study, it was also concluded that Covid-19 risk perception is negatively related to job satisfaction and task performance, and positively related to intention to leave.
