Bu çalışmada Rize ili merkezindeki özel ya da devlet okullarında ilköğretim okumakta olan 288 öğrencinin ailelerine anket uygulanmış ve elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda ailelerin devlet ya da özel okul tercihlerini etkileyen faktörler Logit ve Probit modeli kapsamında belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır Birçok açıklayıcı değişken arasından; ailenin aylık toplam geliri toplam gelirin okulda okuyan çocuğa ayrılan kısmı babanın yaşı babanın mesleği annenin mesleği ve annenin maaşı ön plana çıkan değişkenler olarak saptanmıştır Anahtar Kelimeler: Eğitim Okul Tercihi Logit Modeli Probit Modeli FACTORS INFLUENCING PARENTS’ PRIVATE OR PUBLIC SCHOOL CHOICES THE CASE OF RİZE

In this study a questionnaire was conducted with 288 parents who live in city center of Rize and have children either in a public or private primary school According to the data gathered by using Logit and Probit model factors influencing parents’ choice of private or public primary school were tried to be determined Among many descriptive variables it was determined that the most important variables were family’s total monthly income the portion of the income that is spent for the child in school father’s age father’s occupation mother’s occupation and mother’s salary Keywords: Education School Choice Logit Model Probit Model
