Dinler Tarihinde Metot

Metodoloji, bilimsel araştırmanın başlı başına bir konusu hâline gelmiştir ve dini tecrübe üzerinde araştırma yapmanın dışında son derece önemli bir mesele olarak görülmektedir. Bunun sonucunda, verileri tutarlı anlam kalıpları biçiminde düzenlemek için birleşik bir sistematik ve bilimsel metot geliştirmenin karşısında “Kutsal” ile sayısız şekillerde karşılaşmamızı ve onu ifade edişimizi anlama görevimiz önem bakımından ikinci plana itilmiştir. Metot problemini Dinler Tarihi bağlamında ele alan bu yazıda metodolojinin amaca götüren bir araç olmaktan çıkarak bir amaç haline geldiği vurgulanmaktadır. Oysa keşif ve içgörü, her zaman metodolojiden önce gelmektedir. Diğer bir deyişle biz, gerçekliği özellikle de dini gerçekliği sadece bir metodolojinin uygulanmasıyla elde etmiyoruz. Çoğu zaman gerçeklik ve içgörü daha önce benimsemiş olduğumuz metodolojilere rağmen bizi elde etmektedirler. Doğa bilimlerindeki keşif süreci gibi bizi “anormalliklerin” ve daha sonra da “keşif” bilincine varmamıza sevk eden şey, eski teorilerin ve metotların yetersizliğinin farkına varmamızdır. Ancak bundan sonra “bizi elde eden” şeyin anlamını belli bir sistematik ve tutarlı metot içinde ifade edebiliriz.
