YOZGAT İLİNDE BULUNAN OBEZ ÇOCUKLARDA DEPRESYON VE YAŞAM KALİTESİNİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ Evaluation of the Quality of Life and Depression in Obese Children in Yozgat Province
Amaç: Obezite dünya genelinde artmaya devam eden major sağlık problemlerinden biri olarak gösterilmekteve Dünya Sağlık Örgütü obeziteyi küresel bir epidemi olarak belirtmektedir. Obezite tüm yaş gruplarında art-maktadır ve birçok nedene bağlı olarak gelişebilmektedir. Bunlar genetik, endokrin, içinde bulunulan çevre,davranış biçimi, metabolizma, sosyoekonomik düzey gibi faktörlerdir. Obezite; hem fiziksel hem de psiki-yatrik birçok komplikasyona neden olmaktadır. Bu çalışma ile obez çocuklarda yaşam kalitesi, depresyonbelirtileri ve bunlar arasındaki ilişkinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır.Yöntem: Çalışmaya Bozok Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Polikliniği’ne başvuran vücutkitle indeksi (VKİ) persantili %95’in üzerinde olan, obeziteye sebep olacak ek hastalığı ve ilaç kullanımı olma-yan 50 obez çocuk ve 50 sağlıklı çocuk dahil edilmiştir. Deneklere Çocuklar İçin Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği (ÇİYKÖ)ve Çocuklar için Depresyon Ölçeği (ÇDÖ) uygulanmıştır.Bulgular: Obez grupta 30 kız ve 20 erkek çalışmaya dahil edilmiş olup ortalama yaş 11,72±2,71 yıl, ortalamaVKİ persantili %96,2±0.61 idi. Kontrol grubunda ise 28 kız 22 erkek olup ortalama yaş 11,76±2,91 yıl, ortala-ma VKİ persantili %62±5.421 idi. ÇİYKÖ toplam skoru, fiziksel işlevsellik ve psikososyal işlevsellik skorları obezgrupta kontrol grubuna göre daha düşüktü ve istatistiksel olarak iki grup arasında anlamlı farklılık bulun-makta idi. Çocuklar için depresyon ölçeği obez grupta ortalama 16.7±9.09, kontrol grubunda 8±3.51 idi. İkigrubun da ortalaması depresyon sınırının altında idi ancak obez grubun ortalaması ÇDÖ eşik değerine yakınidi. Obez kızların %15.2’si, obez erkeklerin %10.4’ü eşik değerin üzerinde idi ve cinsiyetler arasındaki bu farkistatistiksel olarak anlamlı değildi.Tartışma: Depresyon ve yaşam kalitesi düşüklüğü obez çocuklarda daha yaygındır. Çocukluk çağında obezi-teyi önlemek yaşam kalitesinin artması ve psikiyatrik açıdan sağlıklı bireylerin yetişmesi için de son dereceönemlidir
Evaluation of the Quality of Life and Depression in Obese Children in Yozgat Province
Aim: Obesity is considered as one of the major health problems that continue to increase worldwide and the World Health Organization defines obesity as a global epidemics. Obesity is increasing in all age groups and can progress depending on many reasons. These are factors such as genetics, endocrine, environment, behavior pattern, metabolism, socioeconomic level. Obesity leads to many complications, both physically and psychiatrically. This study aims to evaluate the quality of life and depression indications and the relationship therebetween. Material and Methods: The study enrolled 50 healthy children and 50 obese children who applied to Bozok University Faculty of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, had BMI percentile over 95%, and do not have comorbidities to cause obesity and using any medicine. The Quality of Life Scale for Children (QoL-C) and Depression Scale for Children (CES-DC) were applied to the study subjects. Results: Thirty girls and twenty boys were included in the study in obese group, wherein age average is 11.72±2.71, average body mass index (BMI) percentile is 96.2±0.61%. However, 28 girls and 22 boys were included in the control group, wherein age average is 11.76±2.91 and average BMI percentile is 62±5.421%. QoL-C total score, physical functioning and psycho-social functioning scores were lower in obese group compared to the control group and there was a statistically significant difference between both groups. Depression scale for children was 16.7 ± 9.09 on average in the obese group while it was 8±3.51 on average in the control group. The average of both groups was below the depression limit, but the average of the obese group was close to CES-DC cut-off value. 15.2% of the obese girls and 10.4% of the obese boys were above the cut-off value, wherein the difference between the sexes was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Depression and poor quality of life are more common in obese children. Prevention of obesity in childhood is vital in order to increase the quality of life and raise healthy individuals psychiatrically.
