KRONİK BÖBREK YETMEZLİĞİ OLAN ÇOCUKLARIN EBEVEYNLERİNİN DEPRESYON DÜZEYLERİ VE STRESLE BAŞA ÇIKMA TARZLARI The ways of Coping Stress and Levels of Depression of the Parents of Children with Chronic Renal Failure

Amaç: Çalışma, çocuğu KBY tanısıyla izlenen ebeveynlerin depresyon düzeyleri ve stresle başa çıkma tarz-larının belirlenmesi amacı ile tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır.Yöntem: 1 Aralık 2008-1 Mart 2009 tarihleri arasında bir üniversite hastanesinin Pediatrik Nefroloji Klinik vePolikliniği’nde çocuğu KBY olan 52 ebeveyn örnekleme alınmıştır. Çalışmanın yapılması için etik kurul izni veebeveynlerden yazılı onam alınmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak ebeveynlerin tanıtıcı özellikleri, hastalık vetedaviye ilişkin bilgilerini içeren anket formu, Beck Depresyon Envanteri (BDE) ve Stresle Başa Çıkma TarzlarıÖlçeği (SBTÖ) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde; tanımlayıcı istatistikler, homojenlik, korelasyonve iki ortalama arasındaki farkın önemlilik testleri kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Çalışmada, annelerin depresyon puan ortalamaları 21.53 ± 13.82, babaların 18.83 ± 13.41 ola-rak bulunmuştur (p>0.05). Çocuk sayısı, hastalığa ilişkin bilgi ve hastanede refakatçi kalma durumununebeveynlerin depresyon puanları üzerinde etkili olduğu saptanmıştır (p0.05). Çalışmada,annelerin çaresiz yaklaşım ve boyun eğici yaklaşım puanları ile depresyon puanları arasında pozitif bir iliş-ki olduğu, babaların ise, çaresiz yaklaşım puanları ile depresyon puanları arasında pozitif bir ilişki olduğusaptanmıştır.Sonuç: Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda, stresle etkili baş etme yöntemlerine ilişkin ebeveynlere eğitim verilme-si, ebeveyn destek grubunun oluşturulması önerilmektedir.

The ways of Coping Stress and Levels of Depression of the Parents of Children with Chronic Renal Failure

Objectives: This study has been done descriptively to determine The Ways of Coping Stresss and Levels of Depression of the parents who have CRF. Methods: A sample of 52 parents have been taken from among those who have children with CRF had been followed up in the Pediatric Nephrology Policlinic and Clinic of University Hospital from December 1st 2008 to March 1st 2009. For the research, ethical committee and written consent from parents were taken. Several means of data collection have been used such as a questionnaire consisting of questions about the characteristics of parents, knowledge regarding the disease and treatment, difficulties which families suffered, Beck Depression Inventory (BDE), and Ways of Coping Inventory (CWI). Descriptive statistics, correlation, homogeneity, significance of difference between two means tests have been used for data analysis. Results: The study revealed that the depression score of the mothers and fathers had 21.53 ± 13.82, 18.83 ± 13.41 respectively. It was determined that the depression score of the parents are affected by accompanied in hospital, the number of children and the knowledge of disease (p0.05). A positive relationship was found between depression and succumbing, hopelessness approach scores for the mothers and between depression and succumbing approach scores for the fathers. Conclusion: Finally, depending on the results of the study, it is recommended to provide education to parents about effective methods of coping with stress, create parent support groups.
