ÖZETAmaç: Çalışma, çocuğu Kronik Böbrek Yetmezliği (KBY) tanısıyla izlenen ebeveynlerin depresyon düzeylerive stresle başa çıkma tarzlarının belirlenmesi amacı ile tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır.Yöntem: 1 Aralık 2008-1 Mart 2009 tarihleri arasında Erciyes Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesipediatrik nefroloji klinik ve polikliniğinde çocuğu KBY tanısı ile izlenen 52 ebeveyn örnekleme alınmıştır.Çalışmanın yapılması için etik kurul izni ve ebeveynlerden yazılı onam alınmıştır. Veri toplamaaracı olarak ebeveynlerin tanıtıcı özellikleri, hastalık ve tedaviye ilişkin bilgilerini içeren anket formu,Beck Depresyon Envanteri (BDE) ve Stresle Başa Çıkma Tarzları Ölçeği (SBTÖ) kullanılmıştır. Verilerindeğerlendirilmesinde; tanımlayıcı istatistikler, homojenlik, korelasyon ve iki ortalama arasındaki farkınönemlilik testleri kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Çalışmada, annelerin depresyon puan ortalamaları 21.53 ± 13.82, babaların 18.83 ± 13.41olarak bulunmuştur (p>0.05). Çocuk sayısı, hastalığa ilişkin bilgi ve hastanede refakatçi kalma durumununebeveynlerin depresyon puanları üzerinde etkili olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.05). AnnelerinSBTÖ’nin tüm alt gruplarından aldıkları puan ortalamalarının babalardan yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur(p>0.05). Çalışmada, annelerin çaresiz yaklaşım ve boyun eğici yaklaşım puanları ile depresyonpuanları arasında pozitif bir ilişki olduğu, babaların ise, çaresiz yaklaşım puanları ile depresyon puanlarıarasında pozitif bir ilişki olduğu saptanmıştır.Sonuç: Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda, stresle etkili baş etme yöntemlerine ilişkin ebeveynlere eğitimverilmesi, ebeveyn destek grubunun oluşturulması önerilmektedir.Anahtar Sözcu¨kler: Kronik böbrek yetmezliği; Çocuklar; Ebeveyn; Depresyon; Stresle başa çıkmaABSTRACTObjectives: This study has been done descriptively to determine the ways of coping stresss andlevels of depression of the parents who have Chronic Renal Failure (CRF).Material and Methods: A sample of 52 parents have been taken from among those who havechildren with CRF had been followed up in the pediatric nephrology policlinic and clinic of ErciyesUniversity Medical Faculty Hospital from December 1st 2008 to March 1st 2009. For the research,ethical committee and written consent were taken from parents several means of data collectionhave been used such as a questionnaire consisting of questions about the characteristics ofparents, knowledge regarding the disease and treatment, difficulties which families suffered, BeckDepression Inventory (BDE), and Ways of Coping Inventory (CWI). Descriptive statistics, correlation,homogeneity, significance of difference between two means tests have been used for data analysis.Results: The depression score of the mothers and fathers were 21.53±13.82, 18.83±13.41respectively. It was determined that the depression score of the parents are affected by accompaniedin hospital, the number of children and the knowledge of disease (p<0.05). The study revealedthat the subscales scores of CWI of the mothers were higher than the fathers (p>0.05). A positiverelationship was found between depression and succumbing, hopelessness approach scores for themothers and between depression and succumbing approach scores for the fathers.Conclusion: Finally, depending on the results of the study, it is recommended to provide educationto parents about effective methods of coping with stress, create parent support groups.Keywords: Chronic renal failure; Children; Parents; Depression; Coping with stresss
