Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Akıllı Telefon Bağımlılığının Yordayıcısı olarak Nomofobi

Akıllı telefonlar amacına uygun olarak kullanılması durumunda eğitim dahil birçok alanda önemli yararlar sağlarken, bu araçların yanlış kullanılması, özellikle çocuk ve gençler açısından ciddi olumsuz sonuçlar ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Bu araştırmada ortaokul öğrencilerinin nomofobi düzeyleriyle akıllı telefon bağımlılıklarının belirlenmesi, nomofobi ve bazı değişkenlerle akıllı telefon bağımlılığı arasındaki ilişkilerin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. İlişkisel tarama modelinin kullanıldığı araştırmanın çalışma grubunu gönüllülük esasına göre araştırmaya katılan 463 ortaokul öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Veriler “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve “Nomofobi Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistikler ve lojistik regresyon analizi teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulguları öğrencilerin %71’inin kendilerini akıllı telefon bağımlısı olarak görmediklerini, ancak %93 gibi önemli bir çoğunluğunun farklı düzeylerde nomofobik olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Öğrencilerinin akıllı telefon bağımlılıklarını yordamaya yönelik analiz sonuçları nomofobi ve akıllı telefon bağımlılığı arasında orta düzeyde anlamlı bir ilişki bulunduğunu, nomofobinin akıllı telefon bağımlılığının en güçlü yordayıcısı olduğunu göstermiştir. Cinsiyet ve okul değişkenleri akıllı telefon bağımlılığının diğer yordayıcıları arasında yer almıştır.

Nomophobia as the Predictor of Secondary School Students’ Smartphone Addiction

Smartphones provide numerous benefits in many areas of life including education when used appropriately; however, misuse of these tools bring serious negative consequences especially on children and youngsters. The present study aimed to examine secondary school students’ nomophobia levels, and investigate the predicting power of nomophobia along with some other demographic factors on smartphone addiction. 463 secondary school students participated in the study on voluntary basis. “Personal Information Form” and “Nomophobia Scale” was employed to collect research data. Descriptive statistics and logistics regression techniques were utilized to analyse the data. Research findings showed that 71% of the students did not consider themselves as smartphone addicts, while 93% of them were found nomophobic at certain levels. Results revealed a moderate significant relationship between nomophobia and smartphone addiction. Followed by gender and school variables, nomophobia was found as the strongest predictor of smartphone addiction.
